Week 24

ooo bumpys getting big! Last night i had the weirdest pregnancy dream that kale and i met our baby, it was a little boy with curly dark brown hair (just like kales would be if he grew it out), green eyes (just like my sisters) and told us that it was going to be a photographer when he grew up and that he was into making art films. We adored him very much in my dream and i woke up with a happy feeling :). Even though Ive had the distinct feeling that im carrying a girl since the beginning of my pregnancy (and the ultra sound tech said that it looked more like a girl than a boy, though they can never give a definite on girls during ultrasounds) i keep having more and more dreams that its a wee boy, and so do my friends apparently! My friend Siobhan told me that she had a dream she met my baby, it was a boy named Joseph strange strange strange.

Week 23

23 weeks pregnant! And now so obvious i have random people asking me how far along i am and finally putting on some weight! Yay! i was getting really nervous because up until the beginning of last week i was still siting at about 62/63 kgs and for the last few days in a row ive been sitting at around 68/69! which is good because it means im on track for how much weight i should be gaining. Its odd most people that haven't had a baby seem to think its a licence to eat all you can, but instead it becomes such diet, no not the "you have to lose weight so eat nothing" kind but the kind that means you should be packing on the omega 3, and eating lots of iron, drinking at least 4 glasses of milk a day and 6 glasses of water, while trying not to over eat and avoiding foods with bad fats in them (making all take aways off the menu). Only im not so disciplined, sometimes i will get chips, and often i will have a chocolate bar, and i still drink a can of coke at least every other day (which is actually fine, because you can have the equivalent of 3 cups of coffee a day and still be below your daily limit) but i think i would go a little mad without some junk food every now and then.

And sad to say but morning sickness seems to showing its ugly head again at the moment its just mild to really bad nausea but its bringing its friends extremely tired and food aversions with it, oh well it will all be worth it in the end :)

Baby facts of week 23

baby is weighing about 500 grams, its ears are now fully functional so it can hear sounds outside the womb! meaning that when a car door slams, someone talks near to the baby or something loud suddenly happens i get to feel a wee jiggle. Also the baby is light sensitive now so it will startle and blink when direct light is shone on my tummy!

week 21

one week over half way! i went to a funeral today and saw my dad and a lot of people i grew up with, my dad hadn't seen me since i called him on fathers day to tell him the good news and he was pretty shocked by the big bump :).
my backs starting to really give me hell this week, and my right leg keeps getting really cramped up, but on the plus side we finally found maternity jeans, from jeans west- they look like real jeans and make me feel a tad more normal, its nice just to have that comfort, and they feel like I'm wearing track pants! I want to live in them and never wear anything else ever its nice to have found a store that stocks cloths for people who arent in their forties having children, but im sure even if someone tried them on and they were quite a bit older than me and having a baby they would feel just as good in them :).
Im getting to the point were i get the urge to post things about being pregnant in my face book status, i know that sounds lame but sometimes you just want to share whats really happening in your life though im sure i would regret it if i did, and my partner Kale wouldnt like it too much oh well.

baby facts this week

Baby is about 360 grams in weight, its about the size of a banana (crown to rump), its tiny tooth buds are beginning to form in the gums

Week 20

On Wednesday i had my midwife visit, every things getting to be pretty routine now, i go in and get my blood pressure checked, pee in a cup and get my protein and sugar levels checked. this pregnancy has been a breeze so far n comparison to some of my friends pregnancies. I've been so lucky to not have to deal with reflux or forever lasting morning sickness, as Ive heard some horror stories about people being hospitalized over things like that. its now imposible to hide the fact that i am pregnant, so im hoping my partner tells his other friends soon but at least we have told most of the important people in our lives so far.
I started sleeping with a pillow under my back and one between my legs, which has made life way more comfortable and my partner has been really good at listening to me winge and moan about the little aches and pains.

Baby facts

baby is anywhere between 13 and 16 cms long, its kicks and jiggles are getting way stronger!

KALE FELT IT HICCUP!!!
OK i know that i may be getting overly excited, but its pretty much the coolest thing in the whole wide world that i can now share this with him in a more complete way :).

week 18

Lots of kicking and moving around, seems as though this wee one gets the hiccups almost every single day, which is really cute to feel when you've forgotten for a minute that your pregnant

week 17

17 weeks pregnant.

we had our midwife visit last week, i really like our midwife Jayne, shes lovely! we got to hear our little babies heart beat for the very first time, it was so amazing! the midwife guesses it might be a boy based purely on its 143 heart rate. Its weird being this far along and barely showing, i wish everyone could just guess because it seems tacky announcing something like this on face book.
I'm starting to feel chubby even though im not looking really 'pregnant' right now. Not being able to do up any pair of pants you own is a real drag, and i cant find any maternity jeans that i like, they all fit weirdly or are made for someone in their late thirties to early forties that likes to wear a lot of pink or lavender.
Its pretty discriminatory towards younger pregnant women who don't want to look like a doily or over sized flower, and towards the women whose bums haven't actually gotten any bigger so they completely lose any bum in the maternity jeans!
so I'm assuming that I'll spend the next five months in long skirts and dresses and large tops, five months is a long time to not like the cloths you are wearing >.< but im so excited to meet the litle guy or gal- five months isn't all that long when i realize that im going to be a mum in five months.
