Week 34 (and six days)

so my shirt sooo doesn't fit any more, but check out these cute wee photos of my litle one, her face is a bit smooshed because of the position shes in but i think shes just the loveliest thing in the whole wide world! her estimated weigh is 6 pounds 4 ounces now and shes finally flipped around and has the head down bum up thing going on (much to my relief)

Week 30

this weeks been good, though its getting more and more uncomfortable to sleep and im waking up sleeping on my back (which is weird for me because thats always been the hardest position for me to sleep in) My sister seems to be endlessly surprised by the fact that i have a belly now i guess i forget it must seem weird to people. We just started our "every two weeks" Midwife visits and with ten weeks to go its really starting to dawn on me how unprepared we may well be, but i have a good feeling it will all come together in good time and theres no reason we cant sort out some stuff after the baby arrives.
at this point of the pregnancy my blood volume is double what is was pre pregnancy (ew gross), Ive gained 7 kgs since my first midwives visit at 6 weeks pregnant. All the babies permanent teeth are formed and waiting under its gums until wee ones old enough to need them, 9 out of 10 babies born at 30 weeks gestation will survive

Week 29

11 weeks to go!
Cravings- Vanilla ice cream, tom yum soup, sun dried tomatoes, CANDY, ice, spicy spicy anything, noodles (lather rinse repeat)
this week has been good, with the ending of my holidays and back at work to carry out my last few shifts spread out for the next four weeks i think I'm handling it all pretty well- my hips and back however disagree! So i wrote my boss's a list of tasks that i'm finding harder to do, i hope they didn't get offended by that but having been pushed to work hard when i was too sick to in a previous job Ive learnt that some times you've just got to say what you mean and write it down to make it all clearer, they seemed pretty understanding and told me to take it easy if i needed to.
Having to think about a baby shower at some point (as almost everyone keeps asking me if I'm going to have one, though i have no idea what it means to have a baby shower) I'm thinking about sorting it out when we move to a slightly bigger place though...

this week my baby should be about 43 cms head to toe and may weigh nearly 1.4 kgs, in the next 11 weeks the baby will double- and may even triple in weight! boopers running out of room already and now instead of kicking seems to jab me with its knees or elbows, or streach its wee back so we can feel its bum poking at the side

Week 27 (belated)

So I've been a bit slack with remembering to take the photos every week, though the belly hasn't changed that drastically since the last photo- only now it seems to fill my whole abdomen- and makes it really hard for me to breath some times, and especially hard to tie my shoes! this photo is actually going up 2 weeks late- so another to follow soon!
The baby should weigh 900 grams, and be about 38 cms head to toe (its no longer measured crown to rump) if it were born at 27 weeks it would have a 85 percent chance of survival as the lungs are just about matured enough for birth (but please stay in there for a while longer little one!)

Week 24

ooo bumpys getting big! Last night i had the weirdest pregnancy dream that kale and i met our baby, it was a little boy with curly dark brown hair (just like kales would be if he grew it out), green eyes (just like my sisters) and told us that it was going to be a photographer when he grew up and that he was into making art films. We adored him very much in my dream and i woke up with a happy feeling :). Even though Ive had the distinct feeling that im carrying a girl since the beginning of my pregnancy (and the ultra sound tech said that it looked more like a girl than a boy, though they can never give a definite on girls during ultrasounds) i keep having more and more dreams that its a wee boy, and so do my friends apparently! My friend Siobhan told me that she had a dream she met my baby, it was a boy named Joseph strange strange strange.

Week 23

23 weeks pregnant! And now so obvious i have random people asking me how far along i am and finally putting on some weight! Yay! i was getting really nervous because up until the beginning of last week i was still siting at about 62/63 kgs and for the last few days in a row ive been sitting at around 68/69! which is good because it means im on track for how much weight i should be gaining. Its odd most people that haven't had a baby seem to think its a licence to eat all you can, but instead it becomes such diet, no not the "you have to lose weight so eat nothing" kind but the kind that means you should be packing on the omega 3, and eating lots of iron, drinking at least 4 glasses of milk a day and 6 glasses of water, while trying not to over eat and avoiding foods with bad fats in them (making all take aways off the menu). Only im not so disciplined, sometimes i will get chips, and often i will have a chocolate bar, and i still drink a can of coke at least every other day (which is actually fine, because you can have the equivalent of 3 cups of coffee a day and still be below your daily limit) but i think i would go a little mad without some junk food every now and then.

And sad to say but morning sickness seems to showing its ugly head again at the moment its just mild to really bad nausea but its bringing its friends extremely tired and food aversions with it, oh well it will all be worth it in the end :)

Baby facts of week 23

baby is weighing about 500 grams, its ears are now fully functional so it can hear sounds outside the womb! meaning that when a car door slams, someone talks near to the baby or something loud suddenly happens i get to feel a wee jiggle. Also the baby is light sensitive now so it will startle and blink when direct light is shone on my tummy!

week 21

one week over half way! i went to a funeral today and saw my dad and a lot of people i grew up with, my dad hadn't seen me since i called him on fathers day to tell him the good news and he was pretty shocked by the big bump :).
my backs starting to really give me hell this week, and my right leg keeps getting really cramped up, but on the plus side we finally found maternity jeans, from jeans west- they look like real jeans and make me feel a tad more normal, its nice just to have that comfort, and they feel like I'm wearing track pants! I want to live in them and never wear anything else ever its nice to have found a store that stocks cloths for people who arent in their forties having children, but im sure even if someone tried them on and they were quite a bit older than me and having a baby they would feel just as good in them :).
Im getting to the point were i get the urge to post things about being pregnant in my face book status, i know that sounds lame but sometimes you just want to share whats really happening in your life though im sure i would regret it if i did, and my partner Kale wouldnt like it too much oh well.

baby facts this week

Baby is about 360 grams in weight, its about the size of a banana (crown to rump), its tiny tooth buds are beginning to form in the gums
